I am an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Huron University at Western University in Ontario, Canada. From 2026–2027, I will also be a Residential Fellow at Harvard University's Center for Hellenic Studies (CHS).
I specialize in ancient Greek philosophy, especially Plato, with particular attention to issues at the intersection of epistemology, political philosophy, and ethics. I am also interested in assessing the ongoing relevance of ancient theories to contemporary issues in feminist ethics and political philosophy.
I have published on justice and the expertise (technê) of ruling in Plato's Republic. At present, my research focuses on Plato's Gorgias and Charmides. I also have long-term intersectional projects that place Plato in dialogue with thinkers from other periods, including the late medieval writer Christine de Pizan (1364–1430) and the contemporary political philosopher Charles W. Mills (1951–2021).
I received my Ph.D. in Philosophy from Western University in 2023. My philpeople profile is here. You can contact me at zli289@uwo.ca
